Wedding Karel and François

I’ll probably say this every time, but I adore Karel and François. Their wedding took place at the Auberge du Lac Morency, in the Laurentians. A place I know well, having worked with them a lot.

I loved the first meeting I had with them (Karel and François). They were excited about their wedding, but didn’t have much anticipation for their wedding film.

Karel had overheard one of his friends talking about how the wedding video was the thing they watched the most and that, although the photos were cool, his friend had fallen in love with their video.
I don’t like to disparage other people’s productions, especially when it’s art, but I made it clear to Karel and François that I agreed with the friend in question.

Karel had overheard one of his friends talking about how the wedding video was the thing they watched the most.

But I also explained to the couple, as humbly as possible, that our videos at Ixpé had a different tone, a vibe… how shall I put it… more personal than average.
I explained to them what I’ll explain to you if I ever get the chance to speak to you: when we design a wedding film, we want to put the bride and groom at the heart of the story.

I have to admit that Karel was a little excited, but François was a little puzzled. They all are. But as I often say, I’m not going to put the bride and groom in uncomfortable or difficult situations, I’m just unlocking, externalizing what’s already there.

Sometimes, some people seem harder and less sensitive, but for me, it’s all the same. I’m able to extract those feelings, emotions and memories and bring them to light. Yes, I have this gift of trust, transparency and, above all, curiosity, which means that I bring the whole world of the person into the film.

Another story told and another love duo thrilled with their video. The first couple for whom we did the Ixpé wedding capture experience called to thank me and told me they’d listened to it nine times, with their grandmother, with the groomsmen, with the bridesmaids, and so on. I had told Karel and François that this would be the case.

They emailed me a few months after their wedding. They confirmed that they were in the process of listening several times as well.

Job done.
